Robert Downey Jr. is 48 years old. Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp turn 50 this year. Alan Rickman is 67. Are these men too old to be thinking about love and romance? Pick up most romance novels and you might think so.
“New Adult” is the latest big wave in the romance writing world. Authors are tackling the pivotal years of college and the early twenties, when most of us climb out of the cocoon, stretch out our damp butterfly wings and learn how to fly. Books like Beautiful Disaster, by Jamie McGuire and Falling into You by Jasinda Wilder have captured huge audiences by dramatizing the growth, confusion and passion of those years.
But growth, confusion and passion don’t stop when you hit thirty…or forty or fifty. Neither does the love and laughter (something I’m sure all new adults will be glad to hear!).
Later this week, author Nan Reinhardt will be guest blogging here. Nan believes that love never ages and she writes romance novels about adults who’ve had their wings for a while. To get us in the proper frame of mind, here’s a link to some not-so-new men who can raise a woman's heat level in a way that has nothing to do with hot flashes!
Half a century (and more!) and still hot!
